I've been going here for as long as I can remember. Definitely my favorite restaurant. The owner, George, is always happy to greet customers at the door. I love the new decorations! The food is decently priced and it tastes great! Never had any problems here. The staff is always helpful. I plan on returning for many years.

Since the same woman (employee) is hell bent on basically harassing my wife for no reason whatsoever, she also flagged my previous review and it was removed. (She's one of the people who posted a five star review here, in case you were wondering.) So here's what you need to know about the restaurant as a restaurant and outside of my "personal issue": old-tasting bread. Watery "cream" soups (& I love cream soup). Too much money, not enough food. Appetizers are outrageously expensive for the amount of food received. Additionally--and perhaps the worst offense of all--they are unable to make a simple grilled cheese sandwich without burning it to a crisp. That's right...plan on scraping off half the bread unless you like your grilled cheese very...toasty. This seems to be especially if you're ordering carry out. Maybe because you can't send it back or request for it to be remade, I don't know. Anyway, not worth your hard-earned money.

Had breakfast here The other day with my family, thought I'd try something new! They have an Italian sausage supreme omelet. . . I was a lil weary at first but was so glad I tried it! It was delicious! Our waitress was really nice and attentive to our needs. :) prices are average. It is a nice cozy spot to have lunch with family and friends and they even have take out!

Frequent this restaurant quite a bit. Excellent Food. Excellent Soups. The Bread is awesome. When you go in for breakfast in the morning you can smell the HOME MADE BREAD when you wall in. George is wonderful, friendly. Waitstaff is excellent. Tonight we had Ice Cream Sundaes which were great. One of my favorite restaurants to go to.

I used to go there when I was just a child. I moved out of IL in 2009 but everytime I come back to IL I always make it a priority to stop in and see George! I will always love this place as it has been a place of family memories for my family and makes me remember the good old day when everyone was always together. We lost some from my family that came here regularly so coming back here always makes me feel like home. I will always come here no matter what. Love it! I should also add now my daughter goes there too when we come in :)

Old looking and outdated. Washrooms smell bad, and are DRITY. Up charge for fries or onion ring, wasn't told that and it isn't stated in the menu.

I've lived in this town for over 13 years and have been coming to this Resturant since I was a child! I have never been disappointed and George always knows how to make me smile. Even when I'm sick and my dad goes out to get me soup George always throws in a slice of pie or salad for me! I love this place so much and the majority of the waitresses are amazing and so friendly. Maybe because they have known me since I was little? Still however they are amazing people and I love the place! By the way for you gamblers out there they recently got slot machines in the back part of the Resturant!

I haven't been to New Horizon in years. And by years I *literally* mean years! I was very leary about going as my friend recently gave them a one star rating during Snow-pocalypse 2011. With this restaurant being walking distance from my home I recently gave it another shot. There was no disappointment from myself or my guest. In fact, we were shocked at how large the portion sizes were. By were I mean that there was hardly anything left by the time we devoured our meals. The food was tasty our personal favorite was the soup which was home-made and amazing! While there the owner, George gave me extra napkins (upon request) and even informed me about them officially having free Wi-Fi and a Facebook page. I immediately thought of those late nights I am stuck doing homework. This news was thrilling! When I got a chance, I liked the Facebook page and found that if you check in at New Horizon while dining in and mention it that you will receive a free appetizer. I'm all over this kind of free-ishness and cannot wait to have dinner at New Horizon!

I love their breakfasts and the service is always top notch. I enjoy going there with friends or by myself. Great skillets. I will be going back.

Subpar service and overpriced food. Yes, it's standard "diner fare", but honestly...you'd be better off trekking to a chain restaurant. Having lived within walking distance of this establishment nearly all my life, I most frequently think of it when I'm in my car driving to a different restaurant that offers a better bang for the buck and an overall reliably good experience. I've probably eaten here no less than 25 times in my life, but some time back, I decided that my time patronizing this restaurant was a thing of the past. Pass.

My favorite restaurant. All of the staff has a bright personality and is very good. The food is good and for a reasonable price. Everything is homemade and come in big portions. This family restaurant is a keeper.

Comfortable as an old shoe. I tried this slightly out of the way restaurant on Central, and was very surprised to be treated like a regular, even though it was my first visit. The wait staff has a personality, and they aren't afraid to show or express it. The food was good. Traditional fare, similar to any number of "family" restaurants. I had pork with dumplings, and the dumpling was the size of a large snowball, light, and obviously homemade. As the plates passed by on their way to other tables, I kept thinking, boy that looks good. Could it have been that I was just hungry? Who knows. I definitely will be back. You can bring pretty much anyone here, toddlers to old folks. I wouldn't head her for any special occasion, though. I would be remiss if I didn't mention the very clean, yet slightly bruised appearance of the place. Furniture is a bit old and worn, and could use updating. Old and clean is OK by me. Kind of like a comfortable old shoe.
